“How do you feel about yourself? What do you think when you look in the mirror? Does it depend on the day? Seven out of every ten girls believe that they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way. Seven out of ten girls look in the mirror and aren’t happy with what they see or with who they are –  and that is just not the way it should be.”

About the Author

My name is Carolyn McMahon. I am a mom. When my daughter was in Grade 5, she began struggling with issues of self-esteem and poor body image. She is not alone. Many young girls today are finding it increasingly hard to reconcile their self-perceptions with the expectations of the world around them. It was because of our experiences, and for other young girls who may be experiencing the same self-doubts, that I wrote Just Be You, Girl.

“Excellent for Pre-Teens…”

“I am so pumped about this!  And so are the girls.”

“So we had our very first book club meeting today!!! It was pretty amazing! We did the first discussion on what is a girl and what defines a girl. The girls were very mature about it and seemed to really like the first session. Once I got started it was a breeze! The structure of the club is working out wonderful. I play music each time I make an announcement about the club, I also had music going during the start of the club, and snacks. Girls loved it!
